Review by Lalia Wilson
Eileen Caddy was a co-founder of the Findhorn Trust, now the Findhorn Foundation and Findhorn Ecovillage, which are proximate to the Scottish town of Findhorn. The Findhorn Trust was formed after Eileen Caddy, Peter Caddy and Dorothy Maclean, set up an intentional community starting in November 1962. Eileen was a channel who transcribed a daily message for the community, usually between two and four in the morning. She channeled messages for 53 years. That material has been harvested for the meditations included in this book, Opening Doors Within: 365 Meditations from Findhorn, copyrights 1986, 2007, and 2019 and published by Findhorn Press. The book actually has 366 meditations in its 412 pages, as it includes a message for February 29th.
Eileen Caddy MBE died in 2006 at the age of 89. She was married twice and had eight children.
The format of the book is as a perennial meditation manual. There is one meditation for each day. Unlike some aspirational journals, these meditations are wordy. Expect at least 200 words a day.
An example: January 3. “Whenever you love, love whole-heartedly, and never be afraid to show your love. Let your love be like an open book that all can read. It is the most wonderful thing in the world, so let the divine love within you flow freely…”
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys daily meditations or reflections, and those who feel a spiritual connection to the Findhorn community.
