It’s February, time for the most heavily invested romantic expectations of the year—Valentine's Day. For most of us, the day never lives up to what we imagine or would like to have happened. But, as always, there is a tarot way to change things up.
Most of us think of tarot as a divination device, but tarot is so much more. Each card of the Tarot represents a window between the world of the spirit/higher mind/All That Is, and "reality," otherwise known as everyday life. Usually, we use the tarot to receive the messages from the Universe/Great Spirit or whatever you wish to call a higher realm of being with benevolent intentions towards us.
There is another way to use Tarot cards. We can use them as a focus of meditation or of affirmation to bring a certain energy into our lives. Think of the image on the tarot card as a go-between which facilitates our communication with the higher realms. When we meditate on a particular card we can bring the highest expression of the energy depicted in our lives.
You can immediately see 78 ways to bring love into our lives! We will just look at a couple of ways so that you can use them yourself or use them as examples to work with another card.
Let’s start with an ethical note. This method is for you to make your way in alignment with the best interests of yourself, and everyone in your life. For that reason please ask for more love, affection, sex, or whatever, with a partner who compliments you. Not for a specific person! When you ask for the love of a particular person using this method you start to interfere with their free will. Ask for love. Do not ask for love from Mr./Ms. Wonderful.
Now back to tarot. As you know there are many tarot decks. For the purpose of manifesting more love in your life, work with a deck that speaks to you. Our next task is to choose exactly what we want to bring to our consciousness, as that will determine what card we use. Making a choice, we will either place that card or an image [1] of that card, somewhere in our private space where we can encounter it multiple times a day. We may also choose to meditate on the card. When placing the card/image we set the intention to bring more of what the card represents into our lives.
Here are some examples of ideas for your own use of this method:
- To open your heart to love: Ace of Cups
- To bring a new relationship: Two of Cups
- To bring vibrant and sexual female energy (for yourself) or as a partner: Queen of Wands
- To bring vibrant and sexual male energy (for yourself) or as a partner: King of Wands
- To better understand the opposite sex: Empress, or Emperor, or any particular Queen or King
The Queen of Wands image is from Healing Light Tarot by Christopher Butler.
These are just some ideas to get you started. For best results, choose one goal with one image to have in your consciousness for a month. May you find the path to more love and romance this February!
[1] You may want to keep your card with your deck and use a photo of the card instead. If you use an image, you can enlarge the image to letter size or larger, even frame it. You can also choose an image from a deck you do not own, but take an image of a friend’s card or from a webpage. I’m picturing someone with a framed image placed on their desk at work - a location they will view many times a day.
The Emperor image is from 78 Tarot Astral collaborative deck.
