By Lalia Wilson
March moves us to the Aries Equinox which occurs on March 20th this year. In order to read the cards for each sign, I used a different deck of cards for each of the four elements. All cards were randomized before drawing the cards. Only one card was repeated: The Star. The Star’s message is hope and its astrological association is with the sign Aquarius.
By suit we have more of the yang elements: Swords and Wands and less of the yin elements: Pentacles and Cups. We are ready for action this month (except for Leo who got the Four of Swords!). There are only two court cards, the Kings of Wands and Pentacles. It looks like the public’s eye will be on powerful men.
The cards used for the fire signs were the Wizard’s Tarot by Corrine Kenner and John Blumen, published by Llewellyn. For the Earth signs I used the Tarot of the New Vision by Pietro Alligo, artwork by Raul and Gianluca Cestaro, and published by Lo Scarabeo. Representing the Air signs is the Healing Light Tarot created by Christopher Butler, published by Lo Scarabeo. For the Water signs I used the Today’s Journey Tarot by Expanding Dimensions and illustrated by Christopher Wilkey, and published by Schiffer.
May March bring you four leaf clovers and a feeling of joy!
Aries:
The Hermit and the Nine of Wands:
Dear Aries, it looks like you have picked up someone else’s burden and possibly many someone else’s burdens. It is true that you are a fountain of energy and accomplish a lot, but please… don’t take on too much. The Hermit card suggests that you need a little seclusion this month for health reasons. However, there really aren’t big health issues for you this month. You do need a bit of alone-time, and some relief from what you have been carrying. Take care of yourself first. Then you can do a “reasonable amount” of projects for others.

Taurus:
The World and the Seven of Swords:
This is not your month to ask for a raise, dear Taurus. Things look flat regarding your career, daily schedule, and personal income. Also, taking on responsibility is your path to success this month. It may be volunteering to take an overseas business trip, teach someone else’s class, take on a Sunday School assignment… But taking on an assignment is your path to success this month. Something happening far away will impact your life this month. In addition, the World card tells us to complete old business this month. You will be glad you did.

Gemini:
The Sun and the Seven of Wands:
Dear Gemini, March is your time to shine. Anything related to the public eye and popularity will swing towards you. This fifteen minutes of fame applies whether you have done something worthy (we hope), or something illicit. If you have something to hide it may come out this month. Partners have been more energetic and argumentative for February and this will continue until St. Patrick’s Day. Should you have any thoughts of doing your partner wrong, this is not the time. Be honorable.

Cancer:
Discernment (Temperance) and the Five of Earth (Pentacles):
The month appears to focus on your health and health habits, as well as partners. Your assignment, dear Cancer, is to do what your healthcare professionals advise and to avoid picking fights with your partner. S/he will be ready for a fight most of the year, something uncharacteristic of your partner. In general you may find that others are more pushy this month and most of the year. If you deal with the public, especially, you will need to have active strategies to calm people down. Be careful with your money and possessions this month. Don’t commit to more than you can pay.

Leo:
The Hierophant and the Four of Swords:
Dear Leo, your career is on your mind this month. This is the month to form your strategy. Wait to take action after April 15th as the forces will be in your favor then. In the meantime, foreign travel and intense experiences are where the action is this month. With the Four of Swords, there is a strong message to get some rest. If you are traveling east/west give yourself time to adjust to new time zones. Things look quiet in all your relationships.

Virgo:
The Lovers and the Ten of Wands:
Dear Virgo, it looks like the first half of the month you are wrapping up some home improvement activities. Your love life has changed considerably in the last seven years. Consider March and April as your final exam, because late this spring changes move to your department of foreign affairs. Is your job going to have you traveling? On the career front things look quiet. Look for the action to pick up later in the spring.

Libra:
The Empress and the Two of Swords:
Dear Libra, The Empress is the card of Venus, your ruling planet. Venus is the planet of love and spends the second half of March bringing love to you from others. If you are in a committed partnership this can be problematic, but any single Libras have opportunities for good connections. Should you be a peacemaker, this latter half of March offers chances for developing connections and finding peace. One last item, you may find yourself having to choose between two possible sweethearts, a dilemma only inflicted upon Libras. The advice for March is to follow your heart.

Scorpio:
Materialism (The Devil) and the Father of Earth (King of Pentacles):
Dear Scorpio, you have a serious matter to deal with regarding neighbors or siblings. That Devil card shows that you could take the low road and give back as bad or worse than you have received. You know to take the high road. The King of Pentacles is in your corner as long as you take the high road. He is an implacable foe if you take the low road.

Sagittarius:
The Initiate (Fool) and the Ten of Swords:
Your life this month is focused on family and children, home and creativity, dear Sagittarius. You’ve been astonishingly creative for the last six years, whether through producing children, or artistic works. This is changing in May, bringing more substance to previous projects and a new phase for your art. Think of March and April as the last hurrah of your current creative path, with new directions about to figure in your creative process. Your relationships look pretty quiet this month, all the more to focus on your art.

Capricorn:
Star and the Five of Cups:
Dear Capricorn, you are focused on income, but it’s not there yet. The Star is future oriented. The Star brings hope. Your money and what it can buy is coming, but not yet here. The Five of Cups points to some relationship losses or other dissatisfactions. Your neighborhood is flooded with water or drugs and people are grieving. Be the stalwart neighbor and friend you always are and support your neighbors.

Aquarius:
Judgement and the Two of Pentacles:
You’ve planned how to renovate or redecorate your home. It’s fun to plan, but when will work begin? Probably not until late April. In the meantime dear Aquarius, people are going behind your back and some do not have the best of intentions. As an Aquarian, you rarely acknowledge other’s bad characters even when it is indisputable to everyone else. Be warned that this month is a time when bad actors can make your life difficult. On the plus side, regular meditation will bring spiritual rewards.

Pisces:
Meditation (The Star) and the Father of Fire (King of Wands):
You are as busy as ever dear Pisces, making things happen and scurrying around. Your eyes are on your income. Things are looking good. You could have a sudden change in income, perhaps an unexpected raise. Any strong male figures, especially any King of Wands types, are on your side and will bring you money luck this month.

You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.
The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you.
