April 2019
By Lalia Wilson

Happy April! May you find joy and well-being as you make your way through the challenges of the month.

All cards were randomized before these drawings, with four decks being used. There were five repeated cards, which in some ways indicate a collective reading for all of us. The repeated cards, two times for each, are The Moon, The Sun, Judgment, the Three of Cups and the Eight of Swords. It would be nice to have this as two readings, one the Sun + the Three of Cups both indicating happiness and joy, and the other being the Moon, Judgment, and the Eight of Swords. The latter reading would be about giving in to our lower nature, judgment from others, but mostly ourselves, and imposing our own sentences. With all five cards it suggests that we have to choose between the low road and the high road. One will lead us into difficulties, the other will bring happiness and joy. Remember, you are the person who chooses your path, choose wisely.

The Fire signs are shown by The Prairie Tarot (2011) by Robin Ator, published by GlowInTheDark llc; 1st edition. The Earth signs are illustrated by the Urban Tarot (2015 & 2018), from Robin Scott, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. The Air signs are depicted by the Housewives Tarot (2003) created by Paul Kepple and Jude Buffum, and published by Quirk Books (2004). The Water Signs are the Revelations Tarot (2005), by Zach Wong, published by Llewellyn. All four decks are available as apps from The Fool’s Dog.

The Sun and the Eight of Swords:

Dear Aries, You should be feeling good this month. Your health and vitality are top-notch. You are making plans for some upcoming trips. A young woman, your daughter perhaps, is working with you on a project. Are you collaborating or working against each other? You know the high road. A friend is in the middle of something stupid, perhaps an affair when both or one party is married; even worse it could be some kind of revenge attempt. Stay away from this harmful path and counsel your friend to take the high road as well.

Lovers and the Page of Swords:

Dear Taurus, things look good in your personal income department. You are filled with joy and confident that you can meet your financial goals. If you have any medical issues, a young female practitioner will be your best choice. This is not the month, or the lifetime, to have an affair with your boss. Stay away from this life complication. If needed, change jobs. Your income looks good no matter which job you take.

Gemini:

Judgment and the Eight of Cups:

Gemini, the Judgment card always suggests that you play by the rules. It can bring old sins back to haunt you at this time. While many think of Judgment as The Law, here it can refer to old issues bubbling up from your unconscious mind. Psychotherapy is the path to resolving old issues. Other alternative methods may work as well. But what’s clear is that you need to work out these old issues now. Regarding your personal income, your eyes and desires are bigger than your means. Be prudent.

The Sun and the Page of Cups:

Dear Cancer, it looks like your life is busy now with lots of positive career action and some lazy cruise plans with a lover or spouse. The tendency will be for you to overestimate how much you are able to accomplish. Your energy and health reserves are less than you are counting on. Have a plan B that is less arduous.

The Wheel of Fortune and the Three of Cups:

Dear Leo, life is looking good! You are happy with your children and your art work and other creative projects. You are connecting with others in profound, non-Leo ways—soul deep. This can be a time of major positive moves as you listen to your inner voice and act so that you harm none.

Virgo:

The Magician and the Eight of Swords:

Dear Virgo, you have some focus on partners this month. A lot is going on with your significant other and any other “partnerships” in your life. Your SO is less rational and organized and way less detail oriented than you. S/He is listening to their own muse these days and possibly in a creative mania. Allow your partner to be creative by clearing away some of the responsibilities that require attention to detail. One caution, you may be at risk of a blood-borne or STD. If you have any weird symptoms, seek medical advice.

The Fool and the Ace of Pentacles:

Dear Libra, your intuitive self is fully available to you. This is particularly true regarding any decisions about your job or money management. You have kicked into a higher realm of intuition and it is new for you, so listen to your own self. New projects are upcoming and you are getting excited for good reason.

Scorpio:

Judgment and the Ten of Pentacles:

Dear Scorpio, family, particularly siblings, are important this month. You have a level of justifiable concern and may need to assume some responsibility for that relative. However, you are financially able and devoted to your family, so this is fairly easy for you to handle. Your significant other has some new personal projects that are quite different from what you and your SO have experienced in the past. Be flexible.

The World and the Nine of Cups:

Sagittarius, you have some big money-management issues to handle this month. Since you are making changes at home, redecorating, or moving, this is to be expected. Your perfect abode for the next few years would be a houseboat or a home with a water view. Let yourself move towards that dream while still being prudent with your money.

Capricorn:

The High Priestess and the Three of Cups:

Dear Capricorn, your personal life has many demands this month. But you do have an option to attend a reunion by the sea or other water venue. Allow yourself to relax and enjoy being with others in a favorable environment. Of all the signs, you are the workaholic. You are being reminded that this April should include some rest and relaxation.

The Moon and the King of Pentacles:

Dear Aquarius, money is working for you this month. Any move that includes the ocean, travel by boat, or seafood, is favorable for you now. You are looking at some home renovation to move into the 21st century with various electronic gadgets and internet connectivity. These areas are rapidly modernizing. Do some research before deciding what you want and be aware that you may have to upgrade in a few years.

Pisces:

The Moon and the Six of Pentacles:

Dear Pisces, you are right in the middle of creative flow this month. In whatever creative endeavors you are at a peak of function now. You may have too many ideas to accomplish them all this month, but you still want to capture the ideas for later use. If you are a spiritual seeker, you are much more connected this month as well. You have much more attention on your own creativity than your partner who is standing by you at this time. At another point you will be the support person for your partner.

You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.

The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you. If you get bored seeing my favorites, I’m open to suggestions and gifts.
