Marchetti Tarot

Review by Lalia Wilson

Ciro Marchetti is a master of creating tarot and divination cards. This deck, he says, is his last tarot deck. Maybe he thinks he has said everything he has to say about the 78 archetypes of the tarot. The deck is spectacular!

There are 78 cards, gilt-edged, 2 ¾ X 4 ¾ inches (7 X 12 cm). Strength is trump number 8 and Justice is number 11. The suits are Coins, Cups, Swords and Wands. The court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.

Six of the cards are shown in the TarotScopes article: The Chariot, Hermit, and Tower, plus the  9 and 10 of Coins and the King of Wands. Here on this page we see the card reverse, sort of a masked ball image, the Queen of Swords and the Three of Cups. The unique and evocative Lovers card, captures the feeling of falling in love!

Queen of Swords Marchetti Tarot June 2019 20190511 0001

The Queen of Swords is a beautiful rendition of a card that frequently fails to convey the positives of this card. Many decks show this Queen as the least attractive of the queens, and fail to show her connection to insight and intellectualism. Here we see a beautiful queen who knows her mind.

10 Cups Marchetti Tarot June 2019 20190511 0001

The Ten of Cups is one of the most joyful cards in the deck. This particular version shows the ten cups, but they are below four leaping dolphins. It communicates joy and companionship in a wonderful way.

Another attribute of this deck is that so many cards have a prominent human face, making the deck very useable for the meditation practices in which you speak with a card, or have them speak to each other. Any who use the cards for meditation will find this feature, as well as the amazing artistry of the entire deck, valuable in your personal practice.

The deck is so attractive that clients will want to touch the cards. Use your discretion regarding this, as your deck will be damaged quickly if a lot of people grab the cards.
