We have just experienced the Cancer Solstice, the Summer Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere. Let's look at some of the summer's activities and themes and how they appear in the tarot. The Wheel of the Year Tarot depicts the entire Wands suit as summer. (See Tarot Scopes article for some images from that deck.)
Picnics are part of most people’s summer fun. How about this picnic? The Urban Tarot Nine of Cups shows a typical summer evening at the park.
Summer is a good time for staying out late—no homework—and going to the movies. Today’s Cinemas have 10 or more screens and up to ten different selections. Now does that sound like the Seven of Cups or not?
Nostalgia is an emotion for many of us in the summer. We remember summers past and young love. The Six of Cups is right in this same spirit.
One big item for many people is the Family Reunion. Depending upon your family, and you, this could be a busy time of many good activities like the Six of Cups, or it could be a time of great family feeling like the Ten of Cups. Or a way to connect to family and heritage such as the Ten of Pentacles (with the Witch’s Tarot). If your family experience is not so great, this could be a Ten of Wands or a Nine or Ten of Swords.
The United States Celebrates Independence Day on July 4th. The Four of Wands goes with this outdoors celebration quite well.
Now, how about that beach vacation? Look at this image from the Everyday Witch Tarot World Card!
