September TarotScopes
By Lalia Wilson
Welcome September! In the northern hemisphere we are looking for cooler temperatures, but the cards suggest that more hot days lie ahead.
All cards were randomized before these drawings with four decks being used. Four cards were repeated: The Empress, The Emperor, the Two of Wands and the Three of Wands. When I see repeated cards, I consider them as a collective reading for all of us. The Emperor and Empress indicate world leaders, male and female, in the limelight. These can be political leaders, cultural leaders, or other types of leaders. In addition the pair suggest a possibility of integration of the masculine and feminine principals at the highest level: the inner marriage. Moving to the Two and Three of Wands, these focus on the economy and business affairs. The cards drawn for the month are mostly Pentacles and Wands, indicating an economic focus anyway. Notice very few Cups and no Swords. Feelings and rational thinking are being ignored.
The Fire signs are shown by The Afro-Brazilian Tarot, created by Alice Santana, artwork by Giuseppe Palumbo, published by Lo Scarabeo (2006). The Afro-Brazilian Tarot is reviewed elsewhere in this edition of Tarot Reflections. The Earth signs are illustrated by the Ancestral Path Tarot created by Julie Cuccia-Watts and published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. (1997). Note that there is a new edition of these cards now available. The Air signs are depicted by The Trippin’ Waite Tarot (2019) by Christine Aguilar, art by James Battersby, available at https://www.tarotcollectibles.com/store/p160/Trippin_Waite_Tarot.html. The Water Signs are shown by the New Era Elements Tarot (2018), by Eleanor F. and Ph.D. Peiper, and published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. I choose various decks to illustrate each month’s drawings so as to show the versatility and variety of tarot, to emphasize a particular season or sign, and because some are my favorites. For September I chose three of these decks to be more culturally diverse.
Aries:
The Emperor and the Three of Wands:
Dear Aries, you repeat the Emperor from last month, showing that you have strong vitality and enthusiasm to bring to all your life. Foreign affairs, travel, and the import and export of items are highlighted. In addition, some matter in your day to day work life is getting your attention. This will be resolved favorably. Please give credit to any who assist you in this matter. This Emperor image relates to the story of Ogum, god of war and iron.
Taurus:
The Emperor and the Three of Wands:
Dear Taurus, notice that you got the exact same cards as Aries, a statistical anomaly. However the meaning is not identical since you are not Aries, you are Taurus. There is a lot of activity behind the scenes happening. Listen to your dreams. Your love life looks great! Expect to have the money for any business endeavors, as you are the likely recipient of money or loans to make your business a success.
Gemini:
The High Priestess and the Queen of Pentacles:
Gemini, it looks like you are back in town and busy on the social circuit. This month is filled with social encounters. In addition, any home repairs or renovations will be quickly done with good quality work. Pay attention to your dreams, as something new is on the far horizon.
Cancer:
Tower and the Five of Wands:
Dear Cancer, you have two indications of difficulties in your life. More specifically, some event in your neighborhood or workplace. If you are in the health care professions, you may be assisting with people following a natural disaster, perhaps a fire. In the meantime, take all precautions at home to be aligned with fire safety (no code violations). Your neighborhood may be fire-prone or people may be angry.
Leo:
The Hierophant and the Ace of Coins/Pentacles:
Dear Leo, new tech is coming to your career, if it’s not there already. A short trip will feature love or a new love interest. If you’re looking for love, take any opportunities to go places, as short trips equal love this month. If you’re in a committed relationship, a lovers’ weekend away is good for both of you. This particular Hierophant relates to Oxala, the god of peace and universal love.
Virgo:
The Star and the Five of Coins (Pentacles):
Dear Virgo, you are full of energy and inspired, but there isn’t much doing on the job. No action right now. If you are in the gig economy, again it’s slow. The Universe may be clearing your schedule as you have a serious matter concerning a child, or perhaps an older lover if you don’t have children.
Libra:
The Empress and the Ten of Wands:
Dear Libra, you have a mixed message this month! You are full of charm, looking good, feeling the love. It’s a great month for new fashion, a new hairstyle, or something to make you look great. However, you are working way too hard. Find a way to take care of yourself while you shine in your circle of relationships.
Scorpio:
The Sun and the Six of Water (Cups):
Dear Scorpio, you are having a busy month with crafters and craftsmen. This could be your work or your friends. You are good at keeping things to yourself, which is good because you are full of smart ideas this month. Don’t share them too soon. There’s also some nostalgia and wistfulness about romantic things. Avoid recreational drugs no matter how alluring they are; your path to spirit is another way.
Sagittarius:
The Judgement and the Knave (Page) of Coins (Pentacles):
Dear Sagittarius, you are a mixture of energy this month. On the one hand you are full of energy and enthusiasm, raring to go and have adventures. Then there is the serious stuff. You have some complicated financial items to handle. This could be sales or purchases of antiques or fine art. At any rate it is not as easy as it might appear. Check everything twice before giving your final approval. This Judgement suggests seeing things that others cannot perceive. [This Judgement is one of my faves from this deck.]
Capricorn:
Justice and the Two of Wands:
Dear Capricorn, you are putting your best foot forward this month, right? If not, make sure to check your wardrobe, hairdo, makeup, and so forth. Your physical attractiveness is part of your public image. Make sure that you meet expectations. Older female relatives are a concern this month. To be more on-trend, try adding some red items to your home décor and eating spicier food. You can do it!
Aquarius:
The Fool and the Two of Wands:
Dear Aquarius, there’s a focus on new technology in your home. It could be a new computer, television, security system or whatnot. The Universe is telling you that it’s time for new tech. Short trips and female relatives are also on your agenda. Things look busy and fun.
Pisces:
The Empress and the Father (King) of Water (Cups):
Dear Pisces, seductive new lingerie may be a focus this month, along with the sexy relationship that the new apparel is for. Money may come from females, so if you need a loan go to a female lender. An emotionally strong and psychologically mature and insightful man may be a fixture in your life this month. Whether it is love or psycho-spiritual understanding, you will hit the jackpot.
You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.
The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you. If you get bored seeing my favorites, I’m open to suggestions and gifts.
