November 2017
By Lalia Wilson
What does November have in store for you? I used a different deck of cards for each of the four elements. All cards were randomized before drawing the cards. We had two repeated trumps: Justice and the Hermit. They relate to the energy of the signs Virgo and Libra which have just gone by. Justice suggests encounters with the legal system or questions about legal rights and responsibilities. The Hermit goes it alone, pursuing his solitary path. The final repeated card is the Four of Wands, giving us commitment ceremonies, parties, and celebrations! Because these cards repeat they suggest that the message should be more broadly applied to all of us this month.
This month’s numerology of the cards has no threes or eights. Threes are the number of creation and joy. Eights are the number of power and worldly success. The Universe is not providing assistance with either that 3 energy or the 8 energy for us this month. Either we do without or we generate our own. We are also missing the Queens and Kings. They represent the adult female and male energy of each suit, each element. These are the accomplished, reliable, and responsible representatives of fire, earth, air, and water. We are lacking in some amount of maturity and completion, still in process this month.
The cards used for these readings were chosen to honor American Thanksgiving, a November Holiday. It’s more an “Americana” theme than Thanksgiving because I could not identify a Thanksgiving-themed deck. I used the Ancestral Path Tarot as my fourth deck since I only had three Americana-themed decks. The Fire signs are illustrated by The Prairie Tarot, created by Robin Ator and published by Glow in the Dark LLC. The Earth signs are The Hillbilly Tarot created, illustrated and published by the Rev. Dr. David Brown and available at www.hillbilly.com or Amazon. The Air Signs are The Golden Age of Hollywood Tarot created by Lorelei Douglas and available at https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/golden-age-of-hollywood-tarot-deck. The Water signs are The Ancestral Path Tarot created by Julie Cuccia-Watts and published by U.S. Games System, Inc.
If you celebrate American Thanksgiving, this year on the 23rd, better to set dinner after 2 PM Eastern time (11 AM Pacific). The Moon moves into Aquarius and immediately sextiles the Sagittarius Sun lending a joyful and optimistic atmosphere. One negative about Aquarius Moon is that political discussions are highly likely. If you are bothered by politics, the Aquarius influence also loves science and science fiction. Just change the subject if you have heard more politics than you want.
Aries:
The Sun and the Page of Cups:
It looks like a month of dealing with complex legal and financial issues, dear Aries. It looks like you are getting money from a financial settlement. Now your task is to manage that money to enable the best future for you. Don’t spend it all in December! Your inner and sensitive child is asking for your time and communication. This could be in dreams or meditation. It also could be acting out under the influence of drugs or alcohol. You know which one is the high road, right? Though part of you wants to improve your home and family relationships, there is not enough energy in that part of your life for action this month.

Taurus:
Death and the Ten of Swords:
Dear Taurus, your months looks incredibly busy with most of the action being initiated by others. Things on the job are hopping! You have lots of work to do and things are generally going well. The major focus is on relationships. That Death card points to your ideal partner, Scorpio. This month s/he is the one with the money, energy, and charisma. Let the magic happen. Only one month in a twelve-year cycle has this much positive relationship energy. Step forward and leave your old life behind.

Gemini:
The Wheel and the Six of Swords:
Your creative energy is at a peak and any creative projects are going well dear Gemini. Plus you are being well-compensated by salary and perks for your job. There is plenty of work and you will receive good pay. One cautionary note, though. This is an exceptional month for creativity, all the arts, matters to do with children, and work projects. Next month or next year may not be as exceptional. Take advantage of the good energy to make your move. The Wheel of Fortune in this deck was inspired by Charlie Chaplin in Modern Times. Similarly, the Six of Swords was inspired by Deborah Kerr in Black Narcissus (1947).

Cancer:
The Devil and the Prince (Knight) of Cups:
Your partner is the focus of your attention this month as well as children and creative projects. It’s an exceptional month for anything having to do with the arts, creativity, and your children. Is one of your children receiving a high honor? Meanwhile your significant other is a power-player. S/he is running the relationship and running the family. You are just along for the ride. There may be a temptation to indulge in a little light-hearted romance on the side. It’s up to you. After all, you have been so accommodating for so long…

Leo:
The High Priestess and the Seven of Wands:
Dear Leo, this month finds you really busy around town and your neighborhood. Neighbors, siblings, and cousins are important for you, especially this month. You might have some writer's block, or perhaps a serious topic to write about. A child is showing too much maturity. If you have children or guide them through work or family relationships, know that some of the kids you mentor will be testing the limits and learning about consequences of their actions. But for you, Leo, some chaos far away, possibly abroad, will impact your daily life.

Virgo:
The Moon and the Four of Wands:
Dear Virgo, there are several indicators of marriage and romance for you. This is especially true if your significant other is a healer or healthcare worker. It looks like important changes are happening to your joint finances and to your family. Both of these could be marriage-related. You could have a new step-child or foster kid. You may have home repairs to make, especially if you are marrying and combining households. Take care with contracts. Consider a prenuptial agreement. Consult with your attorney. Things are definitely more complicated than they appear.

Libra:
The Hermit and the Birth (Ace) of Cups:
Libra, your dreams, and inner life seem lost in the busy world this month. Whatever is happening inside will be revealed at a later date. In the meantime, take due care of your health. Follow the advice of your health professionals. Money-wise, everything is looking very good. This is the month for a big jump in income or a financial windfall. As always, wait until you have the money before spending it! In The Golden Age of Hollywood Tarot, the Hermit card was inspired by the classic western movie Shane. The Birth of Cups card was prompted by Sleeping Putto, Leon Bazille Perrault (1882).

Scorpio:
The World and the Four of Wands:
You are the center of attention in your personal life, dear Scorpio. Financially you have had to watch your budget for several years. Please remember the lessons you learned, because the purse strings will be looser. You will soon have more money coming in, but your frugal habits will make that money go further. Work is a bit chaotic and at the whims of events not under your control. Unfortunately, your only option is to be flexible, even though "flexible" is a work that Scorpios only want to hear when it is used to describe sex.

Sagittarius:
The Hermit and the Two of Cups:
Okay, Sagittarius. You’ve always had a reputation for a roving eye and this month looks like the action is hot and heavy behind the scenes. If you are stepping out on a significant relationship, please know that eventually the truth will be known. It could be that the other party is stepping out, without letting you know that s/he is in a relationship. With all the romance and sex, it is completely different on the home front where you are making domestic modifications due to a family member’s allergies or handicaps.

Capricorn:
Justice and the Five of Wands:
So, Capricorn, you are naturally “in charge” of everything. Your sign is the natural CEO or boss. This month looks like you are going to be doing a lot of bossing, but some may not be in accord. You know the right way to make things happen, but when you tell others how to do their job, tempers will flare. Why am I getting a picture of family disharmony at Thanksgiving? If possible, some family members ought to stay at a hotel so that things don’t get so intense. Either you or they, need some freedom and flexibility.

Aquarius:
Justice and the Seven of Swords:
Aquarius, you may find yourself traveling for business or other projects this month. Family members may object to you not following their holiday traditions. Either you are traveling or you are not as receptive to the annual political conversation around the Thanksgiving table. Freedom from coercion is important to you, dear Aquarius. Watch for someone working against your best interests. In The Golden Age of Hollywood tarot, Justice is inspired by Lady Liberty. The Seven of Swords resonates with The Night of the Hunter.

Pisces:
The Tower and the Four of Cups:
Travel is highlighted for you, dear Pisces. Finances are good and the opportunities for travel are clear. Expect a sudden change in your joint finances. With all this action you are a bit blasé. You seem much more passive than the opportunities and changes suggested. Are you bored? Conditions in our lives always change. With these good travel aspects seize your opportunities now. If you are mourning remember that another’s death is something independent of you—unless you murdered that person. You cannot punish yourself for something that you did not make happen. Seek treatment if necessary.

You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low-cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.
The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you.
