Tarot Reflections
November 2018

Thanksgiving is the big November holiday here in the United States. It is the holiday that finds more people traveling home than any other US holiday. The roadways and airports are filled with traffic. This year we will also celebrate the end of an unusually contentious election season, with the last votes being cast on 11/6. I hope that the 2020 season doesn’t start for a loooong time. For the Northern Hemisphere the weather has already turned cold, the leaves have fallen, and families want to stay home and be together. May we find our happiness at home this month. 

All cards were randomized before these drawings, with four decks being used. There were three repeated cards, two each of Lovers, and the Sun, and three Kings of Wands. There were no Pages, the youthful energies of the suits (and four elements). It looks like November will have prominent men, charismatic and hot-tempered, on center stage. The doubled Lovers card indicates that love is in the air. The Sun card can mean news of pregnancies, but can also indicate the child in each of us, hopefully the well-behaved child. When we combine the negative faces of the Sun and the King of Wands we have a prominent person, probably male, having public temper tantrums.

Aries: 

Temperance and the King of Wands: 

It looks like a good month for you, Aries. Foreign travel and foreign contacts are highlighted this month and for the next year. You are full of enthusiasm and creative ideas. Children seem to be of little concern this month. The big advice is to follow the middle path. You are so bold that you tend to either do too much, or agree to do too much and have to beg off. Remember the middle path, not too much, not too little.

Taurus: 

Justice and the Three of Cups:

You may have an old medical issue, or employment issue to contend with for the first half of November. Things improve for the second half of the month. Your connection with your partner is terrific, and for singles, the right one might be sitting at your Thanksgiving table. For sure, singles, accept invitations so that you can mingle and meet people, as partnership is encouraged this month. Your friends offer spiritually uplifting advice. Listen to them.

Gemini: 

Renewal/Judgment and the Ace of Earth/Pentacles:

Gemini, you have the Judgment card repeated from October… It looks like you will have to deal with business matters, conservatorships, wills and estates. This is great if you are an attorney, legal assistant, or court official tasked with this. If you are not, follow the directions and consult an expert if things look too hairy. Having to deal with this may give you some ideas for future financial progress and how to arrange your own affairs. Be receptive to learning something from this experience.

Cancer: 

The Devil and the Three of Pentacles:

Your partner, dear Cancer, is the focus of everything this month. This person is important and powerful and in the center of events at work or in the community. You are called upon to be the support person at this time. If you don’t have a partner, look to someone who is in the public eye as a possible partner, but remember, you are the support person for the time being.

Leo: 

The High Priestess and the Queen of Cups:

Your intuition is right on target this month. In fact, your dreams will bring luck to you providing you take notice of them. Your social life has been active and will continue to be through the first three weeks of the month. Your partner wants to have Thanksgiving at home, whether with guests or not. After the busyness of the early month, this will be a relief. This is a month for you to relax, you don’t need to put on a show.

Virgo: 

The Sun and the Two of Staves/Wands:

It looks like a busy holiday for you, Virgo. Either you are hosting neighbors, siblings and cousins, or they are hosting you. Something wonderful is coming for your home in the next year. You could be buying a house or improving the one you have. Either way, this is a once in 12 years opportunity to fix things and improve the aesthetics. You have the green light, go for it.

Libra: 

The Lovers and the Eight of Air/Swords:

Libra, this is a month where you will feel most like yourself. You are happy in your own skin and not comparing yourself to any other type. Your artistic creations and children are sources of comfort and joy this month. You are hesitant about foreign travel, which likely won’t happen this month but it is possible before too long. In that regard, you are the one creating the problems. Get out of your own way so that you can have the adventure.

Scorpio: 

The Sun and the Knight of Wands:

You are feeling on top of the world, dear Scorpio. Your career looks great. You are at a peak of charisma, and your income is doing quite well. You have a smile on your face (unusual for you) and people who’ve known you for years have never seen you so joyful. Pretty much anything you go for this month will have a positive outcome.

Sagittarius: 

The World and the Ten of Pentacles:

You, Sagittarius, are also excited, but not in an uncharacteristic way. You are the natural optimist of the zodiac. This is your lucky year, if you provide financial structure for yourself. That’s right, a budget. You hate budgets! But having a realistic budget now will provide income for years to come. If you have an employee benefit plan, especially one with matching retirement funds, take full advantage of it. You and your heirs will be thankful for years to come.

Capricorn:

Dear Capricorn, your fortune for this month is what everyone else wants—love. And you are the person least seeking love. Hey, if it mugs you on Main Street, maybe, but Love has to be so obvious and in your face that even a love-challenged person like yourself can recognize it. Capricorns are known for making their love lives work for them, like marrying wealth, or marrying into a higher status. This is different. It touches your heart. Are you willing to open up?

Aquarius: 

Unity/Hierophant and the King of Fire/Wands:

Dear Aquarius, this is a month in which you will be elevated by the reflected light of someone in your sphere. Whatever electrical work you have done at home will do for now. In six months, though, you will either start anew, or redo that home and office modernization you have been pursuing. Your career is going well, please let your eccentric ways be expressed through your home renovations, and keep your job. I know that stability is tough for an Aquarian like you as you are always going for what’s new.

Pisces: 

The Wheel of Fortune and the King of Wands:

Dear Pisces, it looks like your boss is overseas, or has suddenly moved on, putting you in the position of responsibility. The next twelve months are full of professional opportunities. Keep your eyes open and step forward to take advantage of them. Just as change has opened options for you now, so will come a day when your options are more limited. Seek the higher road, and follow it to success.

You can determine these by using free or low cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.

Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader.
