Bianco Nero Tarot (Black and White) is beautifully illustrated by hand in a Visconti style. The realistic and almost haunting line drawn art is inspired by antique engravings and woodcuts.
The cardstock is of nice quality and the cards themselves are quite flexible, but when held together the deck is stiff. Riffle bridges shufflers may have to take some time to break in the deck. The deck does fan beautifully. The cards measure a bit under 2 3/4” wide x 4 3/4”
The card back is reversible friendly. It features element symbols, an eight-pointed star among vines, thorns, and roses.
Strength is number 8 and Justice is 11. Suits are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
The deck comes in a fold top box and has a traditional little white book.
A couple of card images stand out for me:
First, is the Strength card here we find not a meek maiden but a powerful and fearless woman who knows she can take on whatever comes her way.
Second, Queen of Wands is another strong, magical, and beautiful woman, seated a throne that displays 3 lion heads. She is independent and creative while being powerful.
Lastly, 2 of Cups features a young and handsome couple partnering. The caduceus of Mercury reminds us that vows can be for relationships, business, and others. Opposites attract.
The Bianco Nero Tarot is a bit dark but definitely is a kick-ass and take names kind of deck.
The images are rich with detail that allows the card to be easily understood by the beginning reader all the way through professional.
