Review by Lalia Wilson
Yoga of Light: Awaken Chakra Energies Through the Triangles of Light by Pauline Wills, is a handsome 7” X 9” volume with numerous full color photos and illustrations, many full page. Everything about this book is luxurious, the feel of the cover with its French flaps, the thickness and feel of the pages, the consistent aesthetic throughout, all contribute to the top quality of this book.
The author, Pauline Wills, is a noted London-based teacher of yoga and author of many previous books. This 2019 book is 160 pages, and published by Findhorn Press.
The thesis of the book is that various chakras can be opened and/or healed by certain alignments of given yoga poses. To fully appreciate this book, you will need to have some familiarity with chakras and chakra theory. Wills is working with 10 major and 22 minor chakras. Those minor chakras, which include points on the hands, wrists, and feet, are essential to the subsequent alignments. Further, you need to have some acquaintance with yoga positions. (Yes, the yoga positions are shown, but without previous instruction your successes will be limited…and you can hurt yourself.)
Having a modicum of knowledge about both the chakras and yoga positions, which are reviewed in the text, you can then access the breakthroughs that Wills illustrates in which you assume and hold certain poses in a manner such that you line up designated minor and major chakras.
This book is a lovely coffee table book, but also a breakthrough book for those with the preparation to fully engage with the teachings inside.
